The Ontario Youth Family Handicap
Twosome Tournament was held on
February 6 & 7 at Classic Bowl
in Mississauga with eighty youth
and family members participating
in different divisions, trying
to win scholarship money for
future education. Twenty-six
Lambton County Tenpin
Association (LCTA) youth bowlers
from Hi-Way Bowl and Marcin Bowl
along with their parent or adult
partner took part in the
competition.
The tournament was made up of four
different divisions. The Parent/
Youth division covered a parent,
grandparent or legal guardian.
The Adult/Teen division covered
all other adults. The
Adult/Youth division covered
youth bowlers from ages 5 to 12
while the Adult/Teen division
covered youth bowlers from ages
13 to 21. Each team bowled four
games to determine the winner in
the different divisions.
Four LCTA youth/partner teams were
successful in winning
scholarship money with two teams
winning their respective
divisions.
There were fifteen teams In the
Adult/Teen division, five from
the LCTA. Hi-Way Bowl LCTA youth
bowler Domenic Cocozzoli and his
partner Jesse Burr were the
winners of the $685.00
scholarship. Cocozzoli tossed
games of 136-188-248 - 197 for a
scratch total of 769 - 69 pins
over average for four games.
Burr wheeled games of
189-215-194-172 for a scratch
total of 770 - 122 pins over
average for four games. Their
team score with handicap was
2031 – 28 pins ahead of 2nd
place.
There were fifteen teams in the
Adult/Youth division, five from
the LCTA. Hi-Way Bowl LCTA youth
bowler Cali Smith and her
partner Rob Winder were the
winners of the $685.00
scholarship. Smith rolled games
of 97-88-83-116 for a scratch
total of 384 – 192 pins over
average. Winder hurled games of
124-113-131- 182 for a scratch
total of 550 – 22 pins over
average. Their team score with
handicap was 2054 – 34 pins
ahead of 2nd place.
There were twenty five teams in
the Parent/Teen division, seven
from the LCTA. Marcin Bowl LCTA
youth bowler Jacob Bestard and
his dad Drew Bestard captured 2nd
place and a $342.00 scholarship.
Bestard junior posted games of
207-225-173-214 for a scratch
total of 819 – 199 pins over
average for four games. Bestard
senior recorded games of
193-247-213-202 for a scratch
total of 855 - 139 pins over
average for four games. Their
team score with handicap was
2178 – 48 pins out of 1st
place.
There were twenty five teams in the
Parent/Youth division, nine from
the LCTA. Marcin Bowl LCTA youth
bowler Nicholas Sowden and Rob
Plamondon (parent) ended up in
third place and a $100.00
scholarship. Sowden bowled games
of 124-139-148-96 for a scratch
total of 507 – 115 pins over
average for four games.
Plamondon fired games of
222-210-211-188 for a scratch
total of 831 – 51 pins over
average for four games. Their
team total score with handicap
was 2006 – 87 pins out of 1st
place.
Congratulations go to the above
mentioned bowlers for winning
scholarship money and also to
the twenty two other LCTA teams
and the other Ontario teams that
made a valiant effort in the
tournament.
