The Sarnia Jr. Lady Sting
Bantam B team are in the middle
of a successful playoff and
playdown run.
Since January 1st the team
has been white hot with a record
of 19-1-5.
They concluded the Regular
Season capturing first place in
the very competitive Lower Lakes
Female Hockey League West
Division.
In the first round of
playoffs, the Lady Sting were
matched up vs the Mitchell
Meteors in the 1st vs 8th seed
pairing. Sarnia disposed of
Mitchell in two straight games
with scores of 2-0 and 1-0.
The second round saw a
matchup vs the 4th seed
Bluewater Hawks. Sarnia won that
series, concluding Mar. 6 with
2-0 and 2-1 wins and a 0-0 tie
in the 4 point series.
The Lady Sting will play the
for the West Division Title and
the right to advance to the
Lower Lakes Championship Weekend
on the first weekend of April in
Toronto.
In the OWHA Playdowns, the
Lady Sting were matched up vs
the Southpoint Stars in a very
evenly matched and tightly
contested series that was too
tight to predict.
In the regular season Sarnia
finished first and Southpoint
second.
The playdown series was a
6-point series and Sarnia
emerged victorious on March 5
with a very fast-paced, back and
forth game five
2-0 win.
Leading to the final game it
was a very tight series that saw
Sarnia win the first game 1-0,
tie the next 3 games 0-0, 2-2,
0-0.
With the playdown series win
the Lady Sting advances to the
OWHA Provincial Championship
Tournament in Toronto on April
8-10.
