The final play-off games wrapped up in both tier’s this past weekend and all championship match-ups have been determined for the Sarnia Hockey Association Midget house league.

In Tier 2 Lakeshore Optimists remained in first place and will face second place Sarnia Cement in the “A” Cup while Dante Club will challenge third place Beehive Windows and Doors in the “B” Cup championship game. First place D&S Service Centre will be challenged by second place Mr. Sub for the “A” Cup in tier 1 action while both Pt. Edward Ex-servicemen and Kel-Gor tied with 5 points apiece will compete in the “B” Cup.

Second and third place were literally determined from the outcome of the tier 2 final games. After a hard fought battle, Beehive Windows and Doors lost a 5-3 decision to Lakeshore Optimists. It was unfortunate that Beehive Windows and Doors had to start their final game without a goaltender because a win (and a Sarnia Cement loss) could have advanced them to the “A” Cup.  Goalie Kenny Portiss (Dante Club) was summon midway thru the first period and provided his services.

Lakeshore Optimist was led by Logan Harvey and Matthew Dunn who each scored a goal and added two assists. Megan Hunking, Joshua Glass and Bryson Crossett all tallied with one. Goaltender Jonathan Kameka preserved the win with a solid effort. Clayton Peters answered with a pair of goals for Beehive. Alex Tanguay also found the back of the net to round out the scoring. Both Tyler Oudman and Peyton Demarco were credited with one assist apiece.

As it turned out, Sarnia Cement suffered a 5-3 loss to Dante Club but still managed to advance to the “A” Cup having an extra point over Beehive in the standings. Mackenzie Fiddy led the charge for Dante Club scoring a hat trick. Dallas Henry supplied a goal and an assist while Ben Wilson rounded out the scoring with one. Garnering the assists were Hunter Raymo, Kirsten Smalls and Evan Vandenbossche all with one. Goalie Kenny Portiss provided several key saves to secure the victory. Mitchell Neal scored a goal and one assist for Sarnia Cement while the other snipers were Tyler Kapteyn and Savannah MacKinnon. Drawing the assists were Cole Armstrong, Cameron Vandenende and goalie Daniel DiFederico.

Tier 2 finals begin at 5:00 pm on Thursday March 24th on Clearwater Red.
