2011 Ontario
ParaSport Summer Games
August 11, 2011 At the Holiday Inn in Point
Edward local ParaSport athlete Mitchell Blondin
raised the Ontario Flag to officially count down
the day to the Games.
The two day event
will consist of six sports, all of which will be
represented by Ontario's top-level athletes.
The competitions will be held at Sarnia Central
Athletics track and field complex (Athletics),
St. Patrick's High School (Boccia and Goalball),
Sarnia Lawn bowling Club, (Lawn bowling),
Sarnia Riding Club (Wheelchair Tennis) and
Fiddick's Farms in Petrolia (Para-Equestrian).
Also this year
for the first time, Volleyball Canada will be
hosting a "Seated Volleyball" Camp at the Gym in
Lambton College.
The games will
begin on Friday August 19 with the Torch Relay.
The relay will start at the Holiday Inn at 10:00
am and end at the Sarnia Central Athletics Track
and Field Complex on East Street at 11:00 am.
The route will travel along Venetian Blvd to
Exmouth Street, up Exmouth to East Street and
then down East Street past London Road to the
St. Patrick's High School and the Sarnia Central
Atheltics Track and Field Complex. At
11:00 am the cauldron will be lit during the
Opening Ceremonies and the Games will officially
be open.
The local
organizing committee would like to encourage all
local business to place welcome
messages on their signage to welcome the
athletes and their families and friends visiting
Sarnia.
