Sarnia, ON - Brett Thompson picked up four points
including a hat-trick with three goals straight, as
the Sarnia Sting defeated the Sault Ste. Marie
Greyhounds 5-2 Sunday afternoon.
Thompsons
three goals came started at the end of the second
period, as he scored two on the power play with just
over a minute remaining. He would follow it up in
the middle of the third with his second power play
goal, and cap off his hat-trick with an empty net
goal. The three goals would bring him to 17 on the
season and 12 as a member of the Sting in 13 games.
Thompson
picked up an assist on the first goal of the game,
as Reid Boucher also scored his 17th of the season
near the end of the first to give Sarnia the 1-0
lead.
Ryan
Sproul would tie it early in the first for the
Greyhounds, and then take the lead on the power play
as former Sting defencemen Joe Rogalski scored. But
the Sting would tie in with two goals on the power
play, as Taylor Carnevale scored, followed a minute
later by Thompsons first of three goals.
Charlie
Sarault ended the game with three assists, while
Carnevale also added two assists for a three point
night.
Brandon
Maxwell made 21 saves for his 15th victory of the
season.
Sarnia
will take on Erie next on Friday, December 9th.
