Sarnia, ON - Brett Thompson picked up four points including a hat-trick with three goals straight, as the Sarnia Sting defeated the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 5-2 Sunday afternoon.

Thompsons three goals came started at the end of the second period, as he scored two on the power play with just over a minute remaining. He would follow it up in the middle of the third with his second power play goal, and cap off his hat-trick with an empty net goal. The three goals would bring him to 17 on the season and 12 as a member of the Sting in 13 games.

Thompson picked up an assist on the first goal of the game, as Reid Boucher also scored his 17th of the season near the end of the first to give Sarnia the 1-0 lead.

Ryan Sproul would tie it early in the first for the Greyhounds, and then take the lead on the power play as former Sting defencemen Joe Rogalski scored. But the Sting would tie in with two goals on the power play, as Taylor Carnevale scored, followed a minute later by Thompsons first of three goals.

Charlie Sarault ended the game with three assists, while Carnevale also added two assists for a three point night.

Brandon Maxwell made 21 saves for his 15th victory of the season.
