St. Marys, ON - Jesse Drydak and Louie Rowe
each had two goals for the Sarnia Legionnaires, as
they edge out the St. Marys Lincolns 6-5 in Junior B
hockey action from Friday night.
Sarnia
scored all six goals in the first two periods of
play, while the Lincolns were able to get three on
the power play off of seven chances, with two coming
in the third period.
St. Marys
had the opening lead, as Mitch McIntosh scored 46
seconds into the game, and Sean Consitt scored 50
seconds later to put the Lincolns up 2-0 in 1:36
into the first.
It would
take the Legionnaires most of the period, but they
took would answer back and tie things up in a matter
of seconds. Drydak got his first of the game,
followed by Louie Rowe 44 seconds later to make it a
2-2 hockey game.
But St.
Marys would retake the lead as Mitchell Berzins
scored the first power play goal for the Lincolns
for the 3-2 lead. But with the Legionnaires
still on the penalty kill, Drydak would get his
second of the period with a short handed goal to tie
it at 3-3 at the end of the first.
In the
second, Sarnia would come out with three more goals
and hold the Lincolns to only shots on net. Rowe
would pick up his second of the game, followed by
Jason Teschke for the 5-3 lead. Evan Dixon would
score the Legionnaires only power play goal of the
game for the 6-3 lead heading into the third.
St. Marys
would bring it to a two goal game after Brady Wiffen
scored on the power play, and McIntosh would get his
second of the game with a power play goal to make it
a one goal game. But tie would expire and the
Legionnaires would hold on to the 6-5 victory.
Kyle
Washer got the start and made 26 saves in the
victory.
Sarnia
will play next Thursday night at home to the
Strathroy Rockets, and will play a week later at
home again to St. Marys.
