Petrolia, ON - Dan Veenema scored a pair of goals
for the Petrolia Squires, as they defeat the
Thedford Dirty Dogs 6-4 in WOAA Sr. hockey.
Veenema
opened the scoring followed by Jason McPhail to give
the Squires a 2-0 lead. Justin Lightfoot would cut
the lead in half scoring for Thedford, but Petrolia
lead still lead 2-1 after the first.
In the
second, JJ Martin would put the lead back up to two
goals, but it wouldn't last long as Trevor Stapton
brought it back to one goal. Tanner Tomlinson would
get the Squires second goal of the period but again
the Dirty Dogs would cut the lead back to one. But
before the period ended, Scott McPhail would put the
lead back up to two goals, as the Squires lead 5-3
after the second.
In the
third, Thedford would again cut the lead down to one
goal as Justin Smith scored on the power play. But
with a power play later in the period, Thedford
would give up a short handed goal to Veenema.
Petrolia
would hold onto the lead and the victory 6-4.
Petrolia
will take on Clinton on December 16th.
