Sarnia, ON -
Reid Boucher and Brett Thompson both picked up a
pair of goals and an assist in the Sarnia Stings
last home game of 2011, defeating the Owen Sound
Attack 5-3.
Boucher
had two points after the first, picking up an assist
on the opening goal by Brett Thompson who scored on
the power play, and adding his first goal of the
night t the end of the first as Sarnia leads 2-0
after two period.
In the
second, Boucher got his second goal 1:25 into the
period, picking up his 19th goal on the year. Gemel
Smith got the Attack on the board with his 17th goal
on the season, scoring on the power play to cut the
lead to 3-1.
Near the
end of the period Brett Thompson picked up his
second goal of he game and his 20th of the season,
and Nail Yakupov followed that up with his 20th of
the season, as Sarnia opened up a 5-1 lead heading
into the third period.
In the
third, Jay Gilbert got the Attack back on the board
with a power play goal to cut the league down to
5-2. Keevin Cutting would add a second goal in the
period, but Brandon Maxwell would shut the door the
rest of the period, giving the Sting the victory.
Maxwell
made 40 saves in the game for the victory, as Sarnia
was outshot 43-26.
Sarnia is
on the road for the rest of the month, heading to
Erie, Brampton, Sault Ste. Marie and London.
