Alvinston, ON - It was a tough weekend for the Alvinston Flyers who played three straight games between Friday and Sunday, and walked away with no points and three losses, including a 5-4 loss to Belle River on Sunday.

Alvinston came out with a lead 47 seconds into the game as Chris Edwards got the Flyers off to a fast start. But just as quickly, the Belle River Canadiens scored 46 seconds later, as Donnovan Plummer tied the game at 1-1.

Belle River would take the lead later in the period as Chris DiNatale would give the Canadiens a short lead, as Chad VanEyk would score a minute later to re-tie the game at 2-2 after the first period.

In the second period, Belle River would begin to build their lead on the Flyers. Jason Clarke put the Canadiens ahead and Mike Ditty would score 20 seconds later to give the Canadiens a two goal lead heading into the third.

In the third period, Jason Koumaris put Belle River up by three goals early in the period, finishing off three straight goals by the Canadiens.

Alvinston would get late chances to cut the game close. Cody Curts would score with under two minutes remaining, and Dylan Lightfoot would score on the power play, but the Flyers only had one second remaining in the period and would fall short.

James Morreau got the start and made 35 saves in the loss.

Alvinston will head to Dresden on Friday, December 23rd.
