Sarnia, ON - It was the final day of LSSAA high
school athletics before the winter break, and
volleyball, basketball and hockey all had action.
Girls Volleyball
St.
Christopher's won both junior and senior matches
over North Lambton 3-0. In the senior game, the
Cyclones won 25-18, 25-12 and 25-17, with Jessica
Vanderborgt picking up the player of the match
honours. Erinn McCreath-Frangakis won the honours
for the Eagles.
In the
junior game, the Cyclones won 25-17, 25-10 and
25-13, with Laureen D'Esterre winning player of the
match, while Kassie King won it for the Eagles. The
junior Cyclones keep their perfect season alive with
an 8-0 record.
Boys Basketball
In junior
basketball SCITS moved to .500 on the season in
after a 35-17 victory over St. Francois-Xavier.
Korey Conroy and Ryan Devine each had seven points
for the Bombers, while Christian McCormick had eight
points for St. Francois. SCITS is now 4-4 and tied
with St. Clair for the final playoff spot heading
into the break, while St. Francois is still looking
for their first win at 0-7.
Northern
moves to 7-1 after a 41-37 victory over the St.
Clair Colts. Shane Remes had 11 points and Jeremy
Jones 16 points for the Vikings, while Kaldeway had
11 for St. Clair and G. Maness has 14.
St. Chris
also continued their perfect season with a 62-25
victory over North Lambton.
In senior
basketball, St. Patrick's defeated LCCVI 87-37 to
improve to 4-2 on the year. Mike Yarc had 18 points
in the victory for the Irish.
Boys Hockey
LCCVI
continued their perfect season with a 6-3 victory
over St. Clair. Frankie White opened the scoring on
the power play to give LCCVI the lead, but Karsten
Berg would tie it up for the Colts. Brendan Trottier
would put LCCVI back in front before the end of the
period, as the Lancers lead 2-1 after the first.
In the
second, Riley Boyd would make it a three goal lead
for the Lancers, but Seth Kelly would cut it back
down to one. LCCVI would go on to score three
straight goals as in the third period, two coming
ten seconds a part as Bret Bandenbroek and Brett
DeBoer scored short handed, and Devon Poort added a
late period goal. Berg would add one more for his
third point on the night for the Colts, but the
Lancers would skate off with the win.
St. Clair
is 1-4 on the season.
LSSAA will
return on January 9th with girl's hockey and on
Tuesday, January 10th with full action in all
sports.
