Sarnia, ON -
Brady Deboer allowed only one goal in the Bantam
division final for the Tim Horton's House League
Tournament, leading Lakeshore Optimist to a 4-1
victory over Plater Financial.
Deboer
would be tested early as Dylan Schotten got a shot
in close, but Deboer turned it aside. Lakeshore
Optimist would take it back down the ice and work it
into the middle in front of the goalie where Aaron
Cicchini would make it a 1-0 game.
Plater
Financial would spend most of the first period in
the Lakeshore zone, but could not put in a goal past
Deboer.
In the
second period, Macro Difederico would have two
chances on Plater goalie Nicholas Coady, but the
netminder would turn both chances aside, including a
glove save. Pietro Restivo would get a shot on Coady
that would sqweek through the pads, and put
Lakeshore Optimist up 2-0.
Plater
Financial would get one back, as a point shot would
come off the end boards where Joel Thomas would jam
it in past Deboer, cutting the lead to 2-1.
But
before the period would expire, Kurtis Tamming would
break out of his own zone and take it on his own,
putting a wrist shot under the crossbar and
restoring the Lakeshore lead to two goals at the end
of the second period.
In the
third, Ryan Farell would get a pass at a sharp angle
from the corner and put his shot to the far side of
Coady for a 4-1 lead early in the third.
Deboer
would be tested often in the third, as Donny
Stevenson would come in short handed but be robbed
by the glove of the netminder. Tyler Gillis would
also put a shot on net that Deboer would turn away,
as well as the rebound by Jordan Walsh.
Plater
Financial would not be able to get any closer, and
Lakeshore Optimist would take the Bantam final 4-1.
