The
Sarnia Express travelled to Strathroy on Sunday
December 11th for their first meeting with the
Bluewater Hawks.
The period started out with both teams looking
pretty equal. Sarnia would score first when
Brandi Warner took a nice pass behind the net
from Nicky Futers and wrapped it into the net.
Unfortunately, the Hawks would answer back
immediately tying the game.
After that it would be all Sarnia. Lacey Cote
would bring the Express up 2-1, assisted by
Joceyln Steadman. Moments later Alicia
MacDougall would send a long pass up ice to
Nicky Futers who fired a beautiful shot just
under the crossbar beating the goalie. Michelle
Jenner would make a nice move to pick up the
rebound from the hard slaphot of Brooke Club and
bring Sarnia up 4-1.
With another period still remaining, Sarnia's
offensive streak wasn't quite over. Nicky Futers
would get her second goal of the game, roofing a
hard shot on a great pass from Michelle Jenner.
Making it look easy, Tiffany Daley scored from a
shot in from just outside the blue line, which
the goalie let in five hole. In the dying
moments of the game Bluewater would cough up the
puck in front of their own net, and Brandi
Warner would easily tuck in away to end the game
7-1. In a lopsided game, Kate Rawlings still had
to make a lot of key saves to give her team an
easy victory.
Sarnia Express are
at the Point Edward Arena, 2:00 game time this
coming Sunday the 18th of December vs. Waterloo
Ravens. They will then be off for Christmas
break until January the 8th, when London
Devilettes AA team come to town.
