Third
Period Penalties Hurt Blackhawks

Point
Bantams Post Second
Win
in As Many Days
The
Point Edward Blckhawk Bantams travelled to Mt
Brydges in their second game of the weekend to play
the Cougars(Gold) and came away with a 4-1 win in a
very physical game and eventful game.
The
first half of the opening period saw both teams play
defensively with a major of the action being played
in the center of the rink. The Cougars hit the
“Sin-Bin” first midway through the period on a
tripping call but the Hawks didn’t take advantage of
the extra man. Late in the period, Saint put the
Point on the board from a Gilroy pass to make it
1-0.
The
second period saw the Hawks bookend the period with
penalties but they didn’t cost them. Action began to
pick up as it became a bit more physical. Once
again, midway through the period the Hawks scored
when Courtemanche and Marr set-up Smith to give the
Point a 2-0 lead. Late in the period the Cougars
final managed to hit the score board to bring it
within one but the Hawks quickly retaliated with
McGugan flipping the puck to the top corner in a
scramble in front of the net with Taylor getting an
assist.
With
the momentum of the game swinging for the Point,
they quickly took a three goal lead when Saint made
a perfect cross ice pass to McGugan who beat the
Cougars netminder. The Point played the dump and
chase a good part of the period but landed into
penalty trouble late but still came out with the 4-1
win.
