Sarnia Major Atom MD

December 1,  2011

The Sarnia Jr. Sting Major Atom MD held off the West London Hawks in the third period to win by a score of 5 - 4 Thursday December 1st at the Germain Arena.

Mat Waun came out flying in the first period and scored the games first two goals. Ian Bailey assisted on Mat's first goal and Aiden Clark assisted on Mat's second.

Early in the second period the Jr. Sting went up 3 - 0 on a nice passing play; Evan Trigatti to Ryan Eyre behind the net to Collin Zimmer in the slot. Collin made no mistake and beat the Hawks net minder. With 8 minutes left in the 2nd frame Cole Goosens would score on a similar play, this time from Spencer Baillie and Collin Zimmer. West London would get on the score sheet late in the second to make it a 4-1 game.

In the third period Beynon Jonas would spring Ryan Eyre on a break away and Eyre would stick it top shelf to give the Jr. Sting a 5-1 lead before the West London Hawks came back and scored three unanswered goals. The Hawks pulled the goalie in the last minute but were not able to get the tying goal.

Stevie Schaefer earned the victory in net for the Major Atom MD while Evan Trigatti earned the coach's player of the game for his tenacious fore checking. Mat Waun was the parents pick for player of the game.

The Jr. Sting are back in action on Monday December 5 when they travel to London to take on the Oakridge Aeros.
