Komoka, ON - The Petrolia Squires opened up their
WOAA 2012 playoffs with a 3-2 victory over the
Komoka Classics Saturday night.
All five
goals in the game were scored in the first period,
as the Classics would jump out to an early 2-0 lead
on two power play goals. Deryk Whitehead would open
the scoring, followed by Alex Avery to give Komoko
the early lead.
The power
play would also be what saved the Squires, as they
would answer back in the last four minutes of the
period with three goals. Rob Vanwyseberghe cut the
lead in half with his power play goal, and Mike
Perry would tie the game on the power play, as the
first four goals of the game were with the man
advantage.
With 39
seconds remaining in the period, Kyle Hills would
score what would be the eventual game winner, giving
the Squires the 3-2 lead and would be victory.
The next
game goes Friday, February 10th in petrolia,
followed by the third game in Komoka the following
night.
