Sarnia, ON - The Oakville Hornets won the 2012
Peewee AA Sarnia Girls Silver Stick tournament,
shutting out the Burlington Barracudas 2-0 at the
Clearwater arena Sunday afternoon.
The
Hornets lead after the first period as Brooke Mastantuono set up Victoria Klimek for the 1-0
Oakville lead.
Both
goalies settled in during the second period, not
allowing a single goal, leaving Burlington still
trailing heading into the final twenty minutes.
In the
third, Mastantuono and Klimek would team up again
for another goal, as Klimek scored her second of the
game to give Oakville a 2-0 lead.
Hannah
Miller would play solid in net stopping all shots
she faced, as the Hornets would go on to shut out
the Barracudas and win the Peewee AA championship.
Oakville
went 1-1-1 in the round robin, defeating Mississauga
4-1 in their first game, losing to Saugeen 3-1 and
tying Honey Baked in the second and third games.
They would defeat Brampton 2-0 in the semi-finals to
make their way to the finals.
Burlington
went went 1-0-2 in their three round robin games
tying 3-3 against Scarborough and 1-1 against
Brampton. They defeated Scarborough in their second
game 4-2. In the semi-finals, they defeated Honey
Baked 1-0.
