Sarnia, ON - The Waterloo Ravens are the 2012 Midget
BB Sarnia Girl's Silver Stick champions after a 5-2
victory over the Mt. Clemens Wolves Sunday afternoon
at the Clearwater Arena.
Waterloo
would take the early lead in the first with a pair
of goals by Brianne Hofstede, while Kayleigh Bell
would pick up two assists.
The Ravens
would make it a 3-0 lead after Nicole Paola would
score in the second period, putting the Ravens up by
three with only a period left to play.
The Wolves
would begin to mount their comeback, as Alli
Bianchini scored the first goal for the Wolves,
followed by Jessica Wahby with a slap shot from the
blue line to make it a one score game.
But the
Ravens would respond, as Bell would connect with
Hofstede who was falling to the ice, yet was still
able to get the puck in the net for her third of the
game to put the Ravens back in front by two. Kristen
Dietrich would score to make it a three goal game
again, and that would be enough to win the
championship.
Waterloo
went 3-0 in round robin play, defeating Livonia 3-2,
Burlington 4-1 and Clearview 6-1. In the quarter
finals they would defeat Kent County 2-1, and then
defeat Hamilton 2-1 to advance to the finals.
