Sarnia, ON - LSSAA high school sports finished up a
busy week of games Thursday afternoon, as
volleyball, basketball and hockey were on the
schedule.
Girls Volleyball
In junior
girls volleyball the St. Chris Cyclones lost their
first of the season as the Northern Vikings swept
them 3 games to 0 at Northern. Lena Nicholls and
Melissa Bennett were named players of the match as
the Cyclones remain in first with a 13-1 record,
while Northern remains in second with a 11-3 record.
St. Clair
and St. Francois both picked up victories on
Thursday, with the Colts defeating St. Patrick's
3-0, while St. Francois defeated North Lambton 2-1.
The extra game won by St. Clair puts them in a
direct tie for 3rd place, yet St. Francois still
holds the tie breaker between the two teams.
LCCVI also
picked up their 4th win on the season, defeating
SCITS 25-17, 25-18 and dropping a game 26-24 to win
2-1. Mallory Straatman was the player of the match
for the Lancers while Abbi Dobson was for the
Bombers.
In senior
volleyball, the Cyclones returned the favour to the
Vikings, spoiling their perfect season with a 2-1
victory. St. Chris won 26-25, 25-15 and lost 25-19
to win 2-1. Valerie Spano and Kylene d'Esterre were
players of the match for the Cyclones. Northern
remained in first with a 9-1 record while St. Chris
moves to 5-4 and sits in third place.
LCCVI also
has a 5-4 record after a 3-0 victory over SCITS. The
Lancers won 25-14, 25-18, 25-14 with Hannah Tremblay
picking up the player of the match honours.
Boys
Basketball
St.
Patrick's picked up a 62-57 victory over St. Clair
in junior boys basketball. The victory puts St.
Patrick's into third place with a 10-4 record, while
the Colts sit in fourth with a 8-6 record.
Hockey
In girls
hockey, LCCVI defeated St. Chris 4-1, moving to 5-0
on the year. Shauna McPhail, Danielle Campbell,
Bailey
Couwenberg and Steph Krall each scored for the
Lancers while Allie Regan had the single goal for
the Cyclones who move to 3-3-1 on the year.
In boys
hockey, LCCVI cruised to a 11-4 victory over SCITS
to finish 8-0 on the year. D. Poort and J. Moore
each had two goals for the Lancers while D. Triest,
K. Keating, B. Vandenbroek, B. Trottier, T. Whitely,
B. Deboer and A. Robinson each had single goals. D.
Bowling, D. Harper, T. Baker and A. Sergers had the
goals for SCITS.
