Predators keep in 8th playoff spot February 18th, 2012

Forest, ON - Needing a win to stay ahead of the Chatham Maroons, the Lambton Shores Predators pulled off a 3-2 victory over the Leamington Flyers Saturday night to stay in 8th place in the Western Conference playoff race.

Connor Annett started the scoring 51 seconds into the period to give the Predators the early 1-0 lead. Adam Arseneault would add a late period goal, as the Predators would lead 2-0 after twenty minutes of play.

With no scoring in the second period, the Predators were twenty minutes away from victory. Leamington would get back into the game, as Tony Spidalieri would score on the power play to cut the lead in half. Five minutes later on a second power play, Jake Hopfner would tie it at 2-2.

But the Predators would still find the last goal, as Cody Trowell would score the game winner with less then five minutes remaining to pick up the 3-2 victory.

Brandon Campbell made 21 saves in the victory.

Lambton Shores now sits two points ahead of Chatham for the final playoff spot. The team who finishes 8th will take on Sarnia in the first round of the playoffs.
