Sting lose in overtime in mid-week road game
andrew brethauer February 22nd, 2012

Owen Sound, ON - The Sarnia Sting went back out onto the road for a one night stop in Owen Sound, but the Sting came up short, picking up only a single point in a 4-3 overtime loss.

The game remained scoreless through the first two periods, as JP Anderson turned away 27 shots the Attack put on net, while the Sting only had 18 shots through two periods.

In the third, Owen Sound would pick up the first goal of the game, as Artur Gavrus would score on the power play for a 1-0 Attack lead. Less then a minute later, Nail Yakupov would tie it with his 28th of the season.

Sarnia would then take the lead as Ryan Spooner would score his 25th of the year, but the Attack would bounce back as Gavrus would pick up his second of the game. The Sting would get the lead for a second time as Dominic Alberga would put his 13th goal of the season past Scott Stajcer. Unfortunatley the lead would only last under a minute as Daniel Catenacci would tie the game for the third time.

Overtime would be needed, and in the extra time, Jay Gilbert would get the puck by Anderson to give the Attack only their second lead of the game, but they would pick up the extra point in the 4-3 victory.

Anderson made 37 saves in the loss as Sarnia was out shot 41-29.

Sarnia returns home for two games, starting Friday against Windsor and Saturday against Guelph.
