Late goal leads to overtime loss for Squires

Petrolia, ON - The Petrolia Squires dropped game one in overtime to the Tavistock Royals 2-1 in the second round of the WOAA Sr. AA hockey league playoffs Friday night.

Petrolia had the lead after the first period as Mike Perry would score midway through the period to give the Squires a 1-0 lead.

It would take the rest of the game for the Royals to tie the game, as with an empty net and fifteen seconds remaining in the period, Cody Hall would score to tie the game, sending it into overtime.

Just two minutes into overtime, Tyler Townsend would get the game winner to give the Royals the 2-1 victory.

Game 2 goes Saturday February 25th in Tavistock.
