Leamington, ON - The Sarnia Legionnaires lost their
last game of the season, coming up short in a
shootout as the Leamington Flyers won 4-3.
Alex
Seguin would start the scoring in the first period
to give the Flyers a 1-0 lead. Jesse Drydak would
respond on the power play nearing the end of the
period to tie it at 1-1, but with 12 seconds left in
the period Jared Dennis would put the Flyers back in
front.
In the
second period, Nathan Mater would pick up a pair of
goals to give the Legionnaires the 3-2 lead, as
Shawn Waldie and Jesse Drydak would both pick up
assists on both the goals.
In the
third, Leamington would get the game tying goal as
Brett Babkirk would score with under five minutes
remaining, resulting in extra time and ultimately a
shootout.
Jason
Teschke would score the only goal for the
Legionnaires in the shootout, while Alex Seguin and
Tony Spidalieri would each score for the Flyers to
secure the victory.
Kyle
Washer made 11 saves playing half the game while
Sean Parker would make 23 saves while getting the
shootout loss.
Sarnia
will take on Lambton Shores in the first round of
the playoffs.
