Sarnia, ON - The Sarnia Legionnaires fought
back with three goals in the third period to force
overtime but would have to settle for a single point
after a 4-3 loss to St. Mary's Thursday night in
Junior B hockey.
St. Mary's
had the first and second periods only goals as Bryan
McCauley made it 1-0 Lincolns after the first and
Calvin Penney made it 2-0 after the second.
Shawn
Waldie would get Sarnia on the board midway through
the second period scoring his 14th of the season to
cut the lead in half. The Lincolns however would
restore the two goal lead after Brady Wiffen put a
shot by Kyle Washer for a 3-1 St. Mary's lead.
Sarnia
would press to close the gap and just over a minute
later Michael Sollazzo would cut the lead down again
to make it 3-2. With seconds remaining, Jesse Drydak
would tie the game, sending it into overtime.
In the
overtime period, St. Mary's would find the back of
the net, as Mitchell Berzins scored, giving the
Lincolns the extra point.
Kyle
Washer made 23 saves in the loss while Sarnia
outshot the Lincolns 40-27.
Sarnia
will head to Chatham on Sunday to take on the
Maroons.
