Sarnia, ON - The San Jose Sharp Shooters
scored four unanswered goals
against the Mooretown Storm in the opening round
robin game of the Silver Stick Atom A division on
route to a 4-1 victory.
Mooretown
opened the scoring in the first period, as Jeff
Barclay picked up a loose puck in a scramble behind
the net skated to the side and tossed the puck on
the goalie, banking it off his pad and into the net
for the 1-0 Storm lead.
At the end
of the first period the Storm would take a penalty
that would carry over into the second period, and it
would prove costly as the Storm could not clear the
zone,
and
Mason Siemsen would find Jeffery Lee alone in front
where he would put a wrist shot past Storm goalie
Kaymond Turner to tie the game at 1-1.
The Sharp
Shooters would strike again before the end of the
period as Siemsen would again get in on the assist,
finding Hunter McKown in front for a one timer that
have San Jose their first lead of the game.
The Sharp
Shooters would not let up heading into the third, as
Siemsen would again be in on the assist, passing off
to Ming Hill on a 3-on-2 rush for the third
unanswered goal.
San Jose
would add one more as Jeffery Lee would get in on a
breakaway after the Storm could not hold the blue
line, resulting in Lee deking the goalie and scoring
the fourth goal for the Sharp Shooters in the 4-1
victory.
Mooretown
will next take on the Port Huron Flags at the RBC-2
rink at 3:10, and finish up their round robin play
against the Sarnia Jr. Sting in Point Edward at
1:50pm
