Sarnia, ON - The Sarnia Sting recent win
streak has ended at three after a 3-2 loss to the
Windsor Spitfires on Friday night, which all spells
the end of a Sting five game home stand.
Sarnia's
Ludvig Rensfeldt got the scoring started quickly as
the Swedish born player scored his 12th of the
season 1:02 into the first period of play.
It would
take the Spitfires the rest of the period to finally
get the tie on the board, as Chris Marchese scored
his 13th of the season with under two minutes
remaining to tie the game at 1-1 heading into the
second.
The score
would remained tied for most of the period until
Alex Khokhlachev would find a scrambled puck
in front and put a wrist shot past JP Andersons to
put the Spitfires ahead by one after two periods.
In the
third, former Sarnia Sting member Zach McQueen would
put the Spitfires ahead by two goals with his mid
third period goal but Sarnia would cut it back down
to one goal quickly as Chris Duinick would score his
5th of the season.
Sarnia
would end falling short of the victory despite out
shooting the Spitfires 37-24.
JP
Anderson made 21 saves in his third loss as a member
of the Sarnia Sting.
Sarnia
will now play out the remainder of January on the
road, heading to Guelph on Sunday, and next week
having three games in a row starting Friday against
Ottawa, Belleville and Kingston.
