Sarnia, ON - Despite two quick goals to open
the game, the Sarnia Jr. Sting Midget A team lost
their second round robin game to the Duffield Devils
3-2 Saturday morning at the RBC Centre.

Early on
the Jr. Sting looked to be carrying the momentum
from yesterdays 6-0 victory over to this morning, as
it took very little time into the first period for
the Sting to get a two goal lead.
Chris
Ferrera put the first shot of the game for Sarnia
past Duffield goalie Gabriel Dinota to give the
Sting the 1-0 lead just a minute and a half into the
game. Thirty seconds later, Ferrera would be in a
similar position in the slot, and again fire a wrist
shot past Dinota for two goals on the Jr. Sting's
first two opening shots.
A goal
change was made to Noah McKenzie, who came up big
early on with a save the keep the score only 2-0
after the first period of play.
In the
second, the Devils would look the spoil the Jr.
Sting's shutout streak and midway through the second
period they would find the back of the net. A one
timer from a pass behind the net was stopped but the
rebound went to Anthony Naccarato who put it past
the down Sting netminder.
The Devils
would continue to put traffic in front of the net,
and it would result in the game tying goal, as
Kurtis Adams had to make numerous saves on both
sides of the net until Daniel Schneider was able to
beat Adams high to tie the game at 2-2.
The
third period would be marked by power plays as each
team had numerous chances with the man-advantage to
get the go ahead goal but both goalies kept the game
tied.
Late in
the third period, Duffield would move the puck
quickly up the ice where Naccarato would send a snap
shot on net that would beat Adams high, giving the
Devils their first lead with under four minutes to
play.
Sarnia
would have a power play opportunity in the last two
minutes and pull their goalie for a sixth attacker,
but McKenzie came up with crucial saves to hold the
lead for the Devils, as time would expire and
Duffield finished the comeback with a 3-2 victory.
The loss moves Sarnia to 1-1 on the tournament. They
will finish up play today with their third round
robin game at 6:00pm against the Littleton Hawks at
Clearwater-Blue Arena.
