The Dorchester Dragons won the 2012 Boys Silver
Stick Midget A Championship Sunday afternoon with a
4-2 victory over the St. Thomas Jr. Stars.
St. Thomas
got on the board first, as Dan Gordon would score
for the Jr. Stars for the early 1-0 lead, 1:38 into
the opening period. 40 seconds later the Dragons
would respond, as Tanner MacDonald tied the game,
which stayed tied throughout the rest of the period.

In the
second the Dragons would get their first lead in the
game as Cam Bond would score late in the period on
the power play to put Dorchester in front 2-1
Dorchester
would come out in the third and quickly score a
second power play goal 54 seconds into the period as
Mitch Rowse put the Dragons ahead by two goals.
The Jr.
Stars would be quick to recover as Zak Jukna would
cut the lead back to one, scoring 23 seconds after
the Dragons goal.
With the
Jr. Stars looking for the equalizer, a fluke would
ultimately end up costing them the tournament, as
Bond would pick up his second of the game, banking a
shot off Stars goalie Ricky Corkum to put the
Dragons back in front by two with less then two
minutes to play.
The Jr.
Stars would not be able to find the back of the net
despite a pulled goalie, and the Dragons would skate
off to a 4-2 victory and Midget A Championship.

Hutcheson got the victory in net for the Dragons.
Dorchester
went 2-0-1 in the round robin games with a 4-3
victory over the Barrie Colts, a 3-3 tie against the
East Gwillimbury Eagles and a 3-1 victory over the
Collingwood Blackhawks. They would defeat London 1-0
in a shootout in the semi-finals to get to the final
game.
St. Thomas
went 2-1-0 in their round robin games, dropping
their first game 2-1 to the Collingwood Blackhawks
before rebounding with a 5-0 victory against the
Fresno Jr. Monsters and a 5-1 victory over the
Hollydell Hurricanes. St. Thomas would shut out the
Duffield Devils in the semi-finals 2-0.
