Strathroy, ON - After Thursday's loss to the Lambton
Shores Predators, Dan Rose said his Sarnia
Legionnaires would play much better on Saturday
against Strathroy, and they did, picking up a 5-3
victory over the Rockets in junior B hockey.
Sarnia
opened the scoring in the first as Thomas Moxley put
Sarnia up 1-0. The power play would do it in for the
lead as Nick Boyer would get the Rockets all square
in the first period with his power play goal, as the
two teams were even in shots 15-15 through the first
twenty.
In the
second, Davis Brown would net a pair of goals,
including one on the power play to help put the
Rockets a head by one in the second. Daniel
Nikandrov would score in-between Brown's goals on
the power play to keep Sarnia to within one.
In the
third, Sarnia would come out firing, putting 13
shots on net and holding the Rockets to only 8.
Nikandrov picked up his second of the game to tie it
at 3-3, and then the Legionnaires power play would
go to work, as Shawn Waldie would put Sarnia in
front, and two minutes later, Jason Teschke would
secure a two goal lead with just under three minutes
left to play.
Sarnia
would hold on to the 5-3 victory, while goalie Sean
Parker made 38 saves for his 12th win of the season.
Sarnia
will have a busy week coming, as they head to London
on Wednesday, February 1st, and then return home on
Thursday, February 2nd to take on St. Thomas, and
then head back out again to Leamington on Saturday,
February 4th.
