Plymouth, MI - Needing just a single point to clinch
home ice advantage in the first round of the
playoffs, the Sarnia Sting earn that and more with a
6-2 victory over the Plymouth Whalers in their final
game of the regular season.
Plymouth
lead after the first period despite the Sting taking
an early 1-0 lead after Julian Luciani scored 26
seconds onto the period, The Whalers would respond
later in the period with two goals, as Stefan Noesen
would tie the game, and Rickard Rakell would add the
Whalers second goal on the power play.
From then
on JP Anderson would keep the door closed, making
all 18 saves for the remainder of the game.
Brett
Thompson would score his 32nd goal of the season in
what would be the eventual game winner, scoring the
second periods only goal.
Tyler
Brown would score a pair of goals in the third
period, finishing with 21 goals on the season, while
Craig Hottot would also pick up his 20th, and Reid
Boucher would finish with his 28th goal of the year.
Sarnia
finished one point ahead of the Saginaw Spirit who
will be their opponent in a playoff game since 2009.
