Strathroy, ON - It is now a best of five, as the
Sarnia Legionnaires dropped a 6-4 decision Tuesday
night in Strathroy as part of their second round
playoff match up with the Rockets.
Sarnia
held the early lead as Brent Sauve scored to open
the first period, but the Rockets would keep in pace
as Justin Thomas would tie the game midway through
the first.
Strathroy
would take their first lead on the power play in the
second period as Derek Nap put the Rockets up 2-1.
Daniel Nikandrov returned from injury to score for
the Legionnaires to tie the game back up at 2-2, but
Nap would score his second of the period to put
Strathroy back in front.
The seesaw
battle continued as Anthony Donti answered for the
Legionnaires on the power play, but under a minute
later, Strathroy would claim the lead again as Brian
Brosnan put the Rockets up 4-3 at the end of the
second.
In the
third, Strathroy would add an insurance goal as Ryan
Field made it a two goal game. Michael Sollazzo
would cut the lead back down to one a minute later,
but the power play would do in the Legionnaires
again as Greg Milner scored, putting Strathroy back
in front 6-4 which would be the final.
Kyle
Washer made 29 saves on 33 shots in 40 minutes of
work, while Sean Parker would make 13 saves in 15
shots, as the Legionnaires were out shot 48-38.
With the
series tied at 2-2, game five goes Thursday night in
Sarnia.
