Sarnia, ON - The Sarnia Sting's first playoff game
in three years didn't go as well as they would have
hoped, as the Sting found themselves in a hole after
a four goal second period by the Saginaw Spirit
which lead to a 5-1 victory in game one.
Alex
Galchenyuk scored the opening playoff goal for the
Sting on the power play nearing the end of the first
period, giving Sarnia their only lead in the game.
In the
second, Brandon Saad would tie the game five minutes
into the period, while Carlos Amestoy would put the
Spirit in front just over a minute later, scoring
what would be the eventual game winner.
Saad would
score his second of the period for the 3-1 Saginaw
lead, and Brandon Archibald would cap off the four
goal second period with a power play goal, as the
Spirit came away with a 4-1 lead after forty
minutes.
In the
third, Garret Ross would score two minutes in to
finish off the scoring for the Spirit.
JP
Anderson made 28 saves in the loss, as Sarnia was
out shot 33-27.
Game two
will go Saturday night in Saginaw and will return
back to Sarnia on Monday night for game three.
