Strathroy, ON - The end to the Sarnia Legionnaires
season came Saturday night in Strathroy, as Sarnia
and the Rockets went to triple overtime to solve
game six, where Jordan McNaughton would end the
Legionnaires season.
After a
scoreless first period, Strathroy opened the scoring
in the early second ad Coulter Cahill got his shot
past Kyle Washer to make it a 1-0 game.
Sarnia,
facing elimination, would go into the third period
still trail, but Jason Teschke would find the back
of the net midway through the period to tie the game
at 1-1.
The first
two overtime periods would solve nothing, despite
the Rockets putting 35 shots on net in the two
periods, including 23 in the second overtime.
In the
third overtime, McNaughton would would beat Washer
early in the period, it would be the final goal of
the series and of the Legionnaires season, as
Strathroy would win the game 2-1, and knocking off
the number one seeded Legionnaires 4-2 in the
series.

Kyle
Washer faced 80 shots through the six periods in
net, making 78 saves in the loss, while the
Legionnaires put 63 shots on net.
Strathroy
will now face the London Nationals for the Western
Conference finals as they defeated St. Marys 4-2 in
their series.
