andrew brethauer March 28th, 2012

Saginaw, MI - For the third straight game, the Sarnia Sting and Saginaw Spirit have needed overtime in their playoff series, only this time the Spirit would score last, winning 4-3 and tying up the series at 2-2.

Saginaw had a 2-0 lead midway through the first period as Garret Ross scored his fourth of the series three minutes in, while Josh Shalla would add his second of the series. Sarnia would cut the lead in half as Brett Thompson would get his first of the series to make it a 2-1 game after the first period.

In the second, Sarnia would eventually find the tying goal late in the period as Nail Yakupov scored his second of the playoffs late in the period.

Sarnia would continue the momentum into the third scoring their third straight goal as Nathan Chiarlitti would score his first midway through. But the first Sarnia lead would only last 65 seconds as Brandon Saad would get his fourth of the playoffs to tie the game at 3-3.

Unlike game three that took nearly sixteen minutes to finish overtime, Shalla would beat JP Anderson just 1:48 into the extra period to put the Spirit over the Sting 4-3 and knot the series as 2-2.

Despite the loss JP Anderson was outstanding in net making 46 saves on the night in the loss.  Jake Paterson made 21 saves for the Spirit

Sarnia had won both game two and three in overtime. The series returns to Sarnia for gave five on Friday night.
