Sarnia,
ON - The Sarnia Sting's season came to an end
Saturday night in Saginaw, as the Spirit defeated
the Sting 3-1, winning the best of seven series 4-2.
Saginaw
scored the only goal in the first period as Justin
Kea scored short handed, beating out JP Anderson on
a foot race to make it a 1-0 Saginaw lead after the
first twenty minutes.
Anderson
would be pulled after an injury in the second
period, and would be replaced by Brandon Hope.
Vincent
Trocheck would put the Spirit up 2-0 on the power
play, scoring his second of the series, as the
Spirit were one period away from finishing the
series.
In the
third, Reid Boucher would score early in the period
to cut the lead in half. Michael Finn would respond
three minutes later on the power play, restoring the
Saginaw two goal lead.
Sarnia
would get into penalty trouble for the remainder of
the period, and the clock would run out on their
season, as Saginaw would come away with a 3-1
victory, and finish the series.
Both
Anderson and Hope made 15 saves each, with Hope
allowing two goals on 17 shots. Sarnia was out shot
in the game 33-24.
Sarnia
will now get ready for the OHL draft which takes
place next Saturday.
