Sarnia, ON -  After missing all of the regular season due to injury, Alex Galchenyuk made his return to the Sarnia Sting Wednesday night against the Saginaw Spirit. Unfortunately, even with one of the best NHL prospects back in the line up, the Sting allowed seven goals in a 7-1 loss.

Brandon Saad had the loan goal in the first period coming short handed off a Sting power play.

Josh Shalla would score a hat-trick with all three goals coming in a row in the second period, starting 1:28 into the period and ending at 11:52 in the second to give the Spirit a 4-0 lead.

Sarnia would finally getting on the board in the third as Brett Thompson scored on the power play, but the Spirit would keep coming and put three more goals passed JP Anderson.

Vadim Khloptov would add his second of the year followed by Terry Trafford and Vincent Trocheck with a power play goal to round out the scoring for Saginaw.

JP Anderson made 24 stops on 34 shots in the loss.

Galchenyuk was a minus-3 on the night while his linemate Nail Yakupov was out of the line up.

Sarnia remains in fourth place in the Western Division, two points up on Owen Sound. Sarnia will finish off their season with two road games this weekend, starting in London on Friday and in Plymouth on Saturday to end their season.
