Gladwish/King Hat-Tricks Lead Point Atom’s to 8-0 Win over Rockets

The Point Edward Atom Blackhawks travelled to Strathroy to play the Rockets(Red) team in Lambton-Middlesex hockey action and came away with an 8-0 win with Nolan Gladwish and Jonathan King leading the way with hat-tricks. 

A minute and a half into the first period, Laframboise set the tone for the game with a slapper from the blue-line that beat a screened Rockets netminder. With-in seconds of the second face-off, Gladwish got clear and broke away to put it in the top right hand corner to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead. The Blackhawks took advantage of an off-balanced Rockets team and continued to pressure and it paid off when King went end-to-end with the puck to score off a backhander to make it 3-0. The defense played awesome by not letting the Rockets near the net and the period ended with King getting his second of the period to make it 4-0 going into the second.

Strathroy seemed to regain their composure in the second period but the Point continued with strong pressure which kept the puck in the Rockets end. The Hawks were passing well but the Rockets defense weren’t allowing any chances off rebounds like the first period. Late in the second Gladwish showed some soft hands as he deked the defense to get clear and put it home to make it 5-0 with Molloy getting the assist. Before the period ended Gladwish would get to celebrate his hat-trick making it 6-0.

The third period continued to see the Hawks dominate the play as shown by their many scoring opportunities. By the end of the game Horner –Wasson would get his first of the year and King would get his hat-trick to end it@ 8-0.

 Reinders and MacDonald shared duties in net and got the shut-out.
