The 11 game winning streak
came to an end for the
Sarnia Legionnaires on
Sunday night as the Chatham
Maroons won in front of
their home crowd with a
final score of 6 - 3.
First period action saw two
goals on each side all
scored on powerplays.
Sarnia's Derek D'Andrea
opened the scoring at 4:55.
Chatham came back with a
pair the first at 8:00
scored by Blake Blondeel
and the second at 12:19 by
Sean Myers. Daniel
Nikandrov would score the
final goal of the period and
to tie things up at 15:30.
In the second period Michael
Verboom of Chatham scored
the lone goal to take a 3 -
2 lead. In the third
period Justice Dundas scored
Sarnia's third and final
goal of the night on another
powerplay at 4:50.
From that point on the
wheels fell off for Sarnia
as it was all Chatham as
they went on and scored
three more goals.
Michael Verboom scored his
second and what turned out
to be the game winner at
6:03. Brennan Feasey
scored the 5th Chatham goal
at 14:09 and just over a
minute later at 15:25 Sean
Myers scored the final
Chatham goal.
Sarnia went 3 for 7 on the
powerplay, Chatham went 2
for 7. Chatham
outshout Sarnia 30 - 28.
Sean Parker went the
distance in net for the
Legionnaires, Chatham
netminder Conner MacKinnon
earned the win for the
Maroons.
Sarnia is now 12- 5 after 17
games played for the season
sitting in 4th spot in the
Western Conference.
Chatham is in 7th spot after
23 games in going 8 - 11 -
4.
The Legionnaires are back in
action at home on Thursday
when they meet their county
rivals the Lambton Shores
Predators. Game time
7:10 at the Sarnia Arena.
