On Saturday November
5, the Sarnia Jr.
Sting Major Atom MD
defeated the
Stratford Warriors 1
– 0 at the
Clearwater Arena.
Cameron Stevens and
Stevie Schaefer both
stood tall in net
for the home team
and kept the
Warriors off the
score sheet the
entire game.
Sarnia’s lone goal
was scored with
three minutes left
in the third period
by Cole Goosens
unassisted. Cole
picked the puck up
in the Stratford
corner and fought
his way to the
crease where he
fired a hard shot
that found the back
of the net.
Stratford would pull
the goalie in the
dying seconds of the
game but could not
beat Schaefer.
Tyler Talbot-Ellis
stood out among the
Sarnia players with
his hard
fore-checking and
was awarded both the
coaches and the
parents player of
the game puck!
On Sunday November
6, the Jr. Sting
travelled to London
to face a very
hungry West London
team. Three periods
of hard fought
hockey solved
nothing and the game
ended in a 0 – 0
tie. Stevie
Schaefer and Cameron
Stevens once again
shared the shut
out. Although
Sarnia out-shot the
Hawks by a wide
margin, Cam Stevens
was called upon to
make a great save in
the dying seconds to
keep the contest
even. Aiden Clark
was awarded the
coaches player of
the game and Ryan
Eyre was the parents
pick this game.
Sarnia will face the
1st place
North London
National team when
London visits Sarnia
on Thursday November
10 at Germain
arena. Game time is
6:30 pm.
