Sarnia Minor Midget MD defeated London North 4 - 3
in their first match up of the season.
Joey Austin scored the first goal unassisted at 4:01
in the opening period. London North tied it up by
scoring at 11:43 and the two sides would finish the
first tied at 1 apiece.
Eric Cunningham scored in the second to take the
lead assisted by Konnor Harris and Tristan Buntrock.
Sarnia then would widen their lead to 3 - 1 with
Buntrock scoring assisted by Steve Blysniuk and
Konnor Harris. Sarnia would extended their
lead to 4 - 1 with Colton Healy scoring assisted by
Marcus Dussealt. London North came back and
scored late in the second and the period ended with
Sarnia leading 4 - 2.
In the third period, at 5:27 on the clock London
North narrowed the Sarnia lead to 4 - 3. As
the game was coming to an end and in the last minute
of play London looked to tie things up by pulling
their goalie for the extra man attacker.
Sarnia was able to hold them off until the buzzer
sounded.
Netminder Jesse
Duguay was outstanding in net making several key
saves earning throughout the game.
The Minor Midgets are now 4 - 1 - 2 for the season.
North London are back in Sarnia next week on Nov 14
where the two teams will meet for the second time.
Game time is at 8:30 at the Clearwater Arena Blue.
