The Sarnia Major Atom MD Jr. Sting played the London Bandits on Monday November 14 at the Nichols Arena and came away with a 6-2 victory.
Cameron Stevens and Stevie Schaefer split the game in net for the Jr. Sting, allowing only one goal each while six different players answered for the visitors.
Collin Zimmer started the scoring for Sarnia on a beautiful pass from Spencer Baillie which found Collin all alone in front of a yawning Bandits net. London came back with a goal of their own before the first period was over to even the game at one apiece.
Spencer Baillie scored from Mathew Waun and Greg Ross at the mid-way point of the 2nd and Tyler Talbot-Ellis added a buzzer beater on a nice feed from Ian Bailey with only one second remaining in the period. Nathan Oliphant was also awarded an assist on the play.
At the start of the third Cole Goosens added to Sarnia's total with an unassisted tally before the Bandits scored their second of the game on a tricky shot that went off a defenders stick and over the Sarnia goalies shoulder. With two minutes left in the game Evan Trigatti skated in on a breakaway and found the bottom corner of the cage to make it 5-1; assists Cole Goosens and Ryan Eyre. On the next play Ryan Eyre got a sweet pass from Evan Trigatti and found the net on a nice dipsy-doodle. Kaz Gudelis was awarded an assist on the play as well.
Coach's pick for player of the game was Nathan Oliphant for has hard back check and fore-checking while the parents rewarded Greg Ross for his smart play and sharp break-out passes.
The Jr. Sting Major Atom MD will participate in the St. Thomas Minor Hockey AE Tournament this coming weekend. Good Luck Boys!
