Hot
on the heels of a 3 game
winning streak, the Point
Edward Blackhawks Novice
team wasted no time taking a
quick lead against the
Lambton Shores Black team.
With 3 quick goals in the
first period, the tone
appeared to be set.
The play went back and forth
during the second period,
with the goalies from both
sides making some great
saves, but a strong offence
along with a solid defense
forced this period to end
with the Blackhawks up 8 –
0.
The Blackhawks didn’t seem
to break stride as the third
period started with the
offence in constant attack
mode and the seemingly
impenetrable defense keeping
the play in the Lambton
Shores zone for the majority
of the period. The
Blackhawks displayed
excellent back checking
skills and their ability to
clear the puck out of their
zone quickly, resulted in a
final score of 14 – 0,
putting the first notch on
the belt of Blackhawks
goalie, John Cannon, with
his first shutout of the
season.
The “Performance Player of
the Game” Award went to Cole
Zinkie for his hard work and
constant determination.
