Point Edwards PeeWee Blackhawks hosted the South Huron Sabres in Lambton-Middlesex league action and came away with a hard earned 3-1 win, coming off their first league play loss.
Both teams came out aggressive and looked evenly matched early in the first with play going end-to-end. Midway through the period, the Sabres took the early lead but the Point countered the Sabres goal immediately when Canie stick handled the puck into the Sabres zone and Smith got the rebound to even the score. The Sabres tried to retaliate to get the lead back with a breakaway opportunity but Lindhout came up with a big save to keep it 1-1 after one period of play.
The aggressive play continued into the second with five penalties being called by the officials. Early in the period with the one man advantage, the Hawks were able to take the lead when Best shot the puck and hit the South Huron goalie in the back to make it 2-1. With both teams having chances with a man advantage, neither was able to capitalize.
The final period dittoed that of the second period with physical and aggressive play by both teams. The Point defense played awesome to help keep the one goal lead. As the period was coming to a close, Riddell gave the Point a one goal cushion, with Young assisting, to end the game 3-1 and put the Hawks back into their winning ways.
