Point Edwards PeeWee Blackhawks hosted the Lambton Shores Predators in the first of two weekday league games and got a 7-1 win in Lambton-Middlesex league action.
The Hawks took the puck to the Predators zone right from the start of the game and they kept them in a defense stance from the get-go. Early in the period, Best rushed the net and Lamore put in the rebound to make it 1-0. Shortly thereafter, Best scored his own from a Hunking pass to take a 2-0 lead at the mid-point of the period. Lambton Shores was able to regain their composure after a ruff first half but just as the period was coming to an end, Kennedy and Terpstra set each other up to give the Hawks a commanding 4-0 lead after one period of play.
The second period saw the Lambton Shores team get into early penalty trouble but they were able to keep the Hawks from extending their lead. The Predators finally found their game and played the Point head-on but the Hawks defense did very well in keeping them away from the net. Late in the period, Lambton Shores hit a bump in their play and couldn’t clear the puck allowing both Best and Terpstra to score for the Point, making it a 6-0 game going into the final period of play.
The third period saw both teams play defensively. Assisted by Canie, Smith made it 7-0 on a rush down the left side of the Predators zone. The Predators were able to ruin the shut-out by getting a goal just before the buzzer sounded.
Reinders got the win in net for the Blackhawks.
