MD's
vs.
Stratford
Warriors
The
Sarnia
Sting
Minor
Atom
MD's
travelled
to
Stratford
on
Saturday
to
face
the
Warriors
in
their
fourth
league
game
of
the
season.
The
Sting
were
desperate
for
a
win
having
tied
all
three
previous
games.
Sarnia
started
strong,
pinning
the
Warriors
in
their
own
end
of
the rink
for
the
first
five
minutes
of
action.
Great
forechecking
in
the
offensive
zone
created
ample
opportunities
but
the
Sting
couldn't
solve
the
Stratford
goalie.
It
wasn't
until
the
seventh
minute
of
the
period
when
left-winger
Mateo
Troiani
tip
toed
through
two
defenders
and
slotted
the
perfect
wrist
shot
past
the
Warrior
netminder.
Assisting
on
the
goal
were
Cayden
Wise
and
Daniel
Gratton.The
period
ended
with
the
Sting
up
by a
goal.
The
second
period
was
very
similar
to
the
first.
Sarnia
showed
great
puck
control
advancing in
the
opposing
end
at
will.
Their
persistance
finally
paid
off
when
defenceman
Daniel Gratton
kept
the
puck
in
the
Warrior
end
and blasted
a
low
wrist
shot
on
goal
which
was
redirected
by Sting
winger
Llyeton
Williams into
the
Stratford
net.
Unfortunately,
that
was
all
the
Sting
scoring
as
the
Warrior
netminder
held
firm,
denying
many
quality
Sarnia
chances.
Stratford
would
score
twice
in
the
later
stages game to
tie
it
up
at
2's.
The
Sting
were
awarded
a
powerplay
in
the
final
minutes
of
action
and
continued
to
pressure
the
Warrior
net
but
to
no
avail
as
the
final
horn
blew
sending
Sarnia
to
their
fourth
consecutive
tie!
Great
team
effort
by
all
the
players
including
another
solid
performance
by
Sting
goalie
Ian
Stauth!
