Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today
announced that forward Tanner Pearson of the Barrie
Colts is the CHL Player of the Week for the week
ending September 25 after scoring five goals and
three assists for eight points in two games with a
plus-minus rating of plus-5.
The Colts opened the 2011-12 regular season with two
straight wins with Pearson leading the charge
scoring two goals and three assists for his first
career five-point game last Thursday night in a 7-4
win over the Kingston Frontenacs where he was named
second star of the game. One night later Pearson
claimed first star honours scoring his first career
hat-trick with all three goals in a 3-1 victory
Friday night over the Brampton Battalion.
Pearson, a 19-year-old from Kitchener, ON, is
playing in his second OHL season with the Colts
after recording 42 points in 66 games last season.
Also considered for the award this week was QMJHL
defenceman Mikael Tam of the Quebec Remparts who
recorded five goals in two games, while forward Adam
Hughesman of the Tri-City Americans picked up a goal
and six assists for seven points in two games to
lead the WHL.
