“The 2007 Ontario
Paralympic Summer Championship was a great success!
Almost twelve months ago Sarnia proclaimed they
would surpass their achievements from hosting this
event in 2003. While there were many more athletes,
4 more sports and therefore more details to balance,
Sarnia met it’s goal”! Said Elisabeth
Walker
–Young, Program Manager for Paralympics Ontario.
“Athletes from across the province were treated to
high caliber sporting events and were able to
partake in super socializing activities as well.
The athletes, coaches and officials have gone but
the legacy that remains is priceless and long
lasting. Sarnia is left with an accessible Tennis
Court, thanks to the Sarnia Heavy Construction
Association, a resurfaced track, thanks to the
Trillium Foundation, and a legacy plan, which will
benefit everyone in the community.
Congratulations Sarnia and thank you”!
