Point Edward Atom’s Fall 3-1
To the Ilderton Jets
The
Point Edward Atom Blackhawks traveled to Ilderton to
play the Jets(White) in Lambton-Middlesex league action
and lost 3-1 in a hard fought battle.
The
start of the game showed that two of the better teams in
the league had hit the ice as the action was fast. Both
sides defense played the offensive rush well as they
tried to keep their opponents outside their zones. The
score at the end of the period showed it was going to be
a hard fought battle.
Starting the second, the Jets broke the 0-0 score when
they scored in a scramble inside the goal crease that
the Hawks defense couldn’t clear. With the score being
1-0, the Hawks didn’t give up and continued with their
game plan and it finally paid off late in the period. As
the Jet’s had scored their goal, the Hawks did the same
just before the period ended to make it 1-1 going into
the third.
As the
fans in the stands were on the edge of their seats
watching an awesome game between two closely matched
opponents, both teams hit the ice to start the third
trying for the win. Action was end-to-end and both
goalies ensured neither team had any good rebounds. As
the game came to an end both teams were getting tired.
Late in the third, the Jets were able to make it 2-0 on
a scramble in front of the net that the Hawks couldn’t
clear. Shortly thereafter the Jets scored their third of
the game off a face-off in the Point’s end that made it
3-1 to give the Hawks their first lose of the season.
