Point Atoms Pull out a 3-2 Win in
Lambton-Middlesex Action
The Point Edward Blackhawk
Atom hockey team traveled to Strathroy to play the
Rockets Blue Team in Lambton-Middlesex league action and
pulled out a squeaker to win 3-2.
The Point and the Rockets
came out a bit slow to start the game as both teams
played defensively. Neither team gave any second
opportunities on the few chances either team had. Late
in the period, Jett Terpstra made a great cross ice pass
on a Point Edward offensive push to Nathan Edlington who
scored to make it 1-0 for the Hawks.
Going into the second
period, the action was exactly like the first. Reinders
came up big a few times to keep the Point Edward lead.
Similar to the Point in the first, the Rockets scored
late in the second to send the game into the third at a
1-1 tie.
The offense for both teams
seem to blossom in the third. Early in the period, the
Rockets took the lead after a scramble in front of the
Hawks net. The Blackhawks retaliated right after the
face-off when Kaeden Canie set up Garrett Kennedy to tie
the game at two. Fresh off a goal, the Point took the
lead when Canie set up Jason Caley to give the Hawks a
3-2 lead. The Point’s defense did the rest and the game
ended 3-2 in favour of the Hawks.
