Point Edward Blackhawk Atoms
Hand Jets 7-3 Loss
The Point Edward Blackhawk
Atom hockey team played the Ilderton Jets in one of a
few league weeknight games and came away with a
convincing 7-3 win in Lambton-Middlesex league action.
The Blackhawks came to play
as they put pressure on the Jets right from the drop of
the puck and caught Ilderton off guard. This worked for
the Point as two minutes into the period Kaeden Canie
scored off a Jett Terpstra pass to make it 1-0 and
twenty-four seconds later Nathan Edlington teamed up
with Bradley Hunking to make it 2-0. The Jets seemed to
gather their composure and began to play the Hawks head
to head. This paid off for the Jets as they caught the
Point in a moment of confusion and were able to tie the
period at 2-2 before it ended to make it a close game.
After a coach pep talk, the
Point regained their composure and 1 minute into the
period, Jacob Cunningham made a clearing pass to an open
Nathan Edlington to regain the lead for the Hawks. The
second period saw some excellent hockey with Reinders
making some great saves to keep the Points lead. Both
teams defense played well as they kept the game at 3-2.
The third period saw
Ilderton break the Hawks defensive wall 1 minute into
the period to tie the game at 3-3. The Hawks didn’t
waste any time and immediately retaliated with three
goals by Caley, Best and Kennedy within five minutes to
put the game out of reach for the Jets. Canie and
Terpstra teamed up a final time, just as they started
the game, to make it a 7-3 final score and give the
Point the win.
