SD Lambton and the Strangway Community Centre
Celebrated the opening of the Indoor Boccia Courts!

Saturday March 24th

This past weekend at the Strangway Community Centre on 260 East Street N. Sarnia, a grand opening
was held in the gym to celebrate the opening of the permanent Boccia indoor courts.

On hand for the opening were City Councillor Andy Bruziewicz and MPP Caroline Di Cocco. Di Cocco who challenged
Josh VanderVies to a match and was defeated by a score of 6 - 1.

VanderVies is in training and hopes to participate at the 2008 Paralympics Summer Games in Beijing
where his goal is to win the goal medal! As a Paralympics sport, Boccia is played in over forty countries worldwide!

Guests attending the opening were invited to give the sport a trial. Indoor Boccia is designed for people of all ages, all abilities and all skill levels! Played on a hard surface court, youth and adults can compete in team, pairs and individual
competition.  Players compete while seated and depending on ability some players use ramps or chutes,
to aid in propelling the ball.

Indoor Boccia is offered at the Stangway Community Centre every Wed from 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm.
Everyone is welcome to join in the fun.
